Germany at a Crossroad: A year ago, the newly elected government adopted a major fiscal package - a real turning point in German fiscal policy. However, the current funds are limited in both duration and volume. Moreover, current majority dynamics make it essential to complete the reform of the debt brake initiated last March in order to secure a permanent investment pathway. Yet there is a significant risk that green investment and climate protection could be sidelined in this process, jeopardizing future progress and carrying far‑reaching implications beyond Germany. To safeguard the state’s long‑term ability to act, a coherent and investment‑oriented fiscal architecture is urgently needed.
